April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM)—a time to raise awareness, support survivors, and take action to prevent sexual violence. While these conversations are crucial year-round, April gives us the opportunity to shine a light on this issue and learn how to stop violence before it starts.
Sexual violence is preventable, and we all have a role to play. Through education, supporting survivors, and speaking out against harmful behaviors, we can create a culture of respect and safety.

April is also Child Abuse Awareness and Prevention Month, a time for communities to unite in building safe, supportive, and nurturing environments where all children can thrive. Every child deserves to grow up feeling loved, protected, and valued, and preventing child abuse starts with fostering strong, caring connections. While this work is essential every day, April serves as a powerful reminder to raise awareness, educate others, and take action to prevent abuse before it happens. By working together, we can create a future where all children experience safety, stability, and the opportunity to reach their full potential.
Wear Teal Day
Tuesday, April 7th
Join us on April 7th to kick off Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM) by participating in Wear Teal Day! Teal is the official color of sexual violence prevention, and by wearing teal, you show your support for survivors, raise awareness, and help break the silence surrounding sexual assault.

Denim Day
Wednesday, April 29th
Join HCWC in support of survivors by participating in Denim Day on Wednesday, April 29th! Wear denim to stand in solidarity with survivors of sexual harassment and assault, and use your voice to help challenge victim-blaming myths.
Denim Day is a powerful movement that began in response to a ruling where a survivor’s clothing was used to justify sexual violence. By wearing denim, we send a clear message that what someone wears is never an excuse for assault—and that survivors deserve support, respect, and justice.
Help us spread awareness by posting a photo in your denim on social media with the hashtag #DenimDay and tagging HCWC. Together, we can start conversations, challenge harmful attitudes, and show survivors they are not alone. Every voice makes a difference—let’s stand together against sexual violence!
Go Blue Day
