Volunteer Program

Volunteers are essential to the work of the Hays-Caldwell Women's Center In 2010, 143 volunteers provided over 13,610 hours of service. Whatever your skill or interest, we have a volunteer position for you!

Volunteers generally fall into one of two catagories: Direct or Non-Direct Service. Please read on to find out more about volunteer roles at HCWC.
Volunteer Opportunities

Direct service volunteers provide support for HCWC and may work with our clients or their children. In order to fill this important role, volunteers must attend Advocate Training, a 40-hour course that includes 30 hours of classroom training, plus 10 hours of on-the-job hotline training. Please click here to see the current training schedule. Direct service volunteers fulfill a variety of roles, including:

  • HEARTeam Advocate (hospital response)
  • HELPline Advocate (hotline)
  • Shelter Volunteer
  • Children's Volunteer
  •

Non-direct service volunteers provide support for HCWC but do not work with our clients or their children. You do not have to attend Advocate Training in order to fill the following roles:

    • General Administration Volunteer
    • Special Events/Fundraising Volunteer
    • Board of Directors
