Sexual Assault & Abuse ServicesEvery two minutes, someone is sexually assaulted (TAASA, 2003). Many victims of sexual assault never receive help because they don’t want anyone to know about the abuse, they think they’ll be forced to make a report or they simply don’t know the options available for dealing with what happened. Sexual assault and abuse is never the victim’s fault.
In 2009, HCWC worked with 362 men and women who were sexually assaulted as adults or molested as children. The Sexual Assault & Abuse Services team of HCWC offers counseling and support groups and support through medical and legal proceedings. Counselors work with adult survivors to identify their needs and explore the options available, including whether or not they want to make a report and how to apply for crime victims compensation. The main goal of these services is to help the survivor maintain dignity and regain a sense of control and strength.
All of our services are free and confidential.
For assistance, call the 24-hour HELPline, 512-396-HELP (4357).
