Family Violence Program
No one deserves to be abused. Unfortunately,
family violence is a crime that continues to affect thousands of Texans each year. In 2007, HCWC
helped 610 local family violence victims begin their healing.
Shelter
The Hays-Caldwell Women’s Center offers 24-hour access to a safe confidential shelter for survivors of family violence. Temporary emergency shelter is available for up to 30 days. In this cooperative living environment, shelter residents are provided with food, clothing and other necessities.
Safety planning services are also offered because victims are most at-risk when they first leave a violent relationship. Information and referrals for other social services are offered, as well as peer counseling and support groups on the dynamics of family violence.
All of our services are free and confidential.
Outreach
The outreach program is designed to support family violence clients who are not living in the shelter. These clients need the same kind of services, such as counseling, support groups, legal advocacy and safety planning. Many times, when clients transition out of the shelter, they connect with the outreach team for continued support.
Together, we can explore your options for living a life free from violence.
